Died peacefully at home on December 6 2023, surrounded by family. Ren\u00e9 was born on June 27th 1955, in Granby, to Jules Thibault and Jacqueline Th\u00e9riault. He is survived by his wife, Diane Shaughnessy, son, Jean-Fran\u00e7ois (Michelle), his two grandchildren, Hannah and Nathan, two brothers, Daniel (Diane) and Fran\u00e7ois (Lucille), sister-in-law, Donna.<\/br>Ren\u00e9 met his wife of 39 years, Diane at Ogilvie Flour in Montreal where they both worked. Shortly after having their son, they settled in Laval where he started a long and successful career as one of the<\/br>original employees of DLGL Technologies Corporation, a human resources software provider based in Blainville.<\/br>Ren\u00e9 and family split much of their time between Laval and their cottage in the Laurentians on Lake MacDonald. In 2010, Ren\u00e9 and Diane built their dream home on the lake and moved there full time. Lake MacDonald has provided everlasting memories for Ren\u00e9 and Diane, as well as the extended Shaughnessy family and friends. At the lake, he was known for his summer BBQs, enjoying late night campfires, card playing (fouine), horseshoes and driving his son and many nieces and nephews in the motorboat, in wintertime, he enjoyed snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and countless downhill ski days with his son to Morin-Heights and Mont-Tremblant.<\/br>Ren\u00e9 was an avid golfer, enjoying weekly rounds with his golf group. He and Diane were also enthusiastic travelers and enjoyed several memorable trips together, including to Europe, the Caribbean and across North America. Ren\u00e9 loved his two adoring grandchildren and was able to join them on a memorable family road trip to Prince Edward Island in the summer of 2023<\/br>Ren\u00e9 and Diane were avid curlers and loved to spend time at the Brownsburg Curling Club, where Ren\u00e9 served as the club president from 2019-2023.<\/br>He will forever be remembered for his devotion to his family and friends, his zest for life (if there was a dance floor in sight, Ren\u00e9 was on it), and the positive impact he made on the lives od all who knew him.<\/br>Despite a difficult battle with cancer, Ren\u00e9 maintained his positive attitude until the very end. Peu de temps apr\u00e8s avoir eu leur fils, ils se sont install\u00e9s \u00e0 Laval o\u00f9 il a commenc\u00e9 une longue et fructueuse carri\u00e8re en tant que l’un des premiers employ\u00e9s de DLGL Technologies Corporation, un fournisseur de logiciels de ressources humaines bas\u00e9 \u00e0 Blainville.<\/br>Ren\u00e9 et sa famille partagent une grande partie de leur temps entre Laval et leur chalet dans les Laurentides sur le lac-MacDonald. En 2010, Ren\u00e9 et Diane ont construit la maison de leurs r\u00eaves sur le lac et y ont d\u00e9m\u00e9nag\u00e9 \u00e0 temps plein. Le lac-MacDonald a fourni des souvenirs \u00e9ternels \u00e0 Ren\u00e9 et Diane, ainsi qu’\u00e0 la famille et aux amis Shaughnessy \u00e9largis. Au lac, il \u00e9tait connu pour ses barbecues, appr\u00e9ciant les feux de camp de fin de nuit, les jeux de cartes (la fouine), les fers \u00e0 cheval et conduisant son fils et de nombreux neveux et ni\u00e8ces dans le b\u00e2teau \u00e0 moteur. En hiver, il aimait la raquette, le ski de fond et d’innombrables journ\u00e9es de ski alpin avec son fils \u00e0 Morin-Heights et \u00e0 Mont-Tremblant.<\/br>Ren\u00e9 \u00e9tait un golfeur passionn\u00e9, appr\u00e9ciant les rondes hebdomadaires avec son groupe de golf. Diane et lui \u00e9taient \u00e9galement des voyageurs enthousiastes et ont appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 plusieurs voyages m\u00e9morables ensemble, notamment en Europe, dans les Cara\u00efbes et \u00e0 travers l’Am\u00e9rique du Nord.
